Barnes Scholarship Interest Form

    Thank you for your interest in the Barnes Scholarship at Colorado College! This form is the first step in the Barnes Scholarship application process. To give your recommender plenty of time to submit their letter of support, please complete this form as soon as you know who your recommender will be.

    First, you'll need to tell us which Barnes Scholarship you plan to apply for.

    The Otis A. Barnes Scholarship in Chemistry & Biochemistry is awarded to students planning to major in Chemistry or Biochemistry. This is a full-tuition scholarship, and will remain in effect for four years as long as the recipient makes satisfactory progress toward a chemistry or biochemistry major at Colorado College. The scholarship does not cover the cost of housing or meals.

    The Margaret T. Barnes Scholarship in Natural Sciences & Mathematics is awarded to students planning to major in a natural science (including Molecular Biology, Organismal Biology & Ecology, Environmental Science, Geology, Physics, Psychology, Neuroscience) or Mathematics (including Computer Science). This is a full-tuition scholarship, and will remain in effect for four years as long as the recipient makes satisfactory progress toward a degree in one of the majors listed above. The scholarship does not cover the cost of housing or meals.

    Next, please share the name and email address for an instructor closely related to your science or math background who will submit a recommendation on your behalf. Upon your submission of this form, we will send your recommender an email with instructions on how to submit their recommendation.

    When the Barnes Scholarship application opens on Friday, Dec. 11, you will receive an email with a link to the scholarship application. Your application and letter of recommendation must be submitted by Sunday, Jan. 3, 2027. Your scholarship application will go through a review process separate from your application for admission to the college.
